In no particular order:
*Yes, you really do need to bring water wherever you go.
*There IS green in AZ, it's just in more creative places than on front lawns.
*Plan on taking at least 25-30 minutes to get to every destination.
*It's HOT...but it's a dry heat.
*Public places like malls have prominent signs telling you where you can find water.
*Don't drive on any interstate between 1pm and 7pm on Friday.
*Do walk as many places as possible.
*Do take a number.
*If you've been traveling on I-10 for quite a while, and when you finally take I-17 you're passing streets for the second time...you're not in the twilight zone, you just went the wrong way and are stuck on the I-10/I-17 loop.
That last one may be confusing to most of you, but I certainly learned my lesson.

that's mostly true. but you don't have to take water everywhere you go. just do as the camel's do: don't ever pee.
Have you ever tried not to pee? your eye balls start to float
Oh yeah...I forgot a very important one:
*Stay away from the circle K.
yes, i'm glad you learned to stay away from the circle k. you only go there when you absolutely must or it is 10 am or if you are in scottsdale, chandler or ahwatukee.
just stay away.
