Happy Halloween!

Here is a list of people who should NOT be trick-or-treating (in order of appearance at my door):
1. 12 year old "chaperone" who is way too honest about getting candy just because he's there.
2. 10 year old in khakis, polo, and baseball cap who, when asked what he was, shrugged and said, "Nothing, just me."
3. 14 year old girl in jeans and varsity jacket TALKING ON THE PHONE!
4. 40 year old woman dressed as a cat (maybe??) who scowled at me when I looked puzzled that she was standing on my porch holding a bag open without saying a word, and 60 year old man that was with her, costume-free, also holding a bag open, but saying "I'm Igor, he he."
5. Every person without a costume who isn't even prepared with a good lie when you ask, "And what are you?" even though they clearly aren't anything.
6. 30 year old man, costume-free, with stroller and 4 month old infant, also costume-free, who doesn't come onto the porch and says "It's just us two...it's her first halloween." Oh really!?!? Well maybe I should offer your infant some flavored breast milk. Oh wait...that's stupid!
7. 30 year old man claiming his "little girl fell asleep in the car." Well, I'm sorry, you snooze, you lose!
8. 12 year old chaperone and his charge returning because they "got jacked" and had to start over.
9. Weird, confused lady (possibly off her meds) who stood in my driveway for 5 minutes before offering me 50 cents to use my phone.
10. Really strange girl in red long sleevies who brought pepsi and then came inside to eat our tacos and play euchre.

I of course still gave all these people candy because I'm crazy and very nervous about being egged or knifed. I hate this holiday.

What's wrong McFly, you got no scrote?

Back to the Future II is on TBS right now...these movies rule. I can't believe how not cool I am. There are so many things that I need to and should be doing and all I can do is lay around, eat, and watch T.V. Honestly, I can't even remeber the super cool things I wanted to do that I think up while I'm at work or school. It's like I walk in the door and my brain shuts down. Like even now...it's only 9pm and I'm ready for bed. This is crazy. (On a side note...Marty just walked into the Cafe 80s where Michael Jackson via television is your waiter and the background music is all "Beat It" all the time...this is by far the coolest part of this movie)

So I don't know...life sucks...blah blah blah. Yeah, I'm a whiner. I don't care, I'm tired and burned out and I'm really crabby. Just ask my husband...who brought me really nice flowers today! Maybe I'm a whiner because I'm spoiled? Maybe I'm bipolar, hmmm...I'm definitely a hypochondriac. I have everything, not actual sicknesses, just mental disorders and disabilities. Yup...did you know that I have depression, autistim, ADD, social anxiety disorder, schizophrenia, personality disorder, borderline personality disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder, and generalized anxiety disorder? Yeah well, even without any of these, I've just plain got problems.

we don't need no education

Today I had my first lesson observation at school. It went really well for the most part and my field coordinator was impressed. I'm not really one to get nervous in front of people like that, but as soon as I started my lesson I was all of sudden nervous and sweaty and shaky. It was very strange. So I feel good about my lesson and I can't wait to get a job and have my own classroom. How tired will I be then?? It'll be awesome!

Ryan started the fire!!

I love The Office...British or American, it's always funny. It makes me happy when I'm sad that a show's 30 minutes are up. I can't wait to tune in next week to see what zany situations full of comedy will arise. And I'm super sad that there will only be six episodes, or so the rumor goes. We're already nearing the end here...and that's not funny.

Okay, my desert island top five movies:
1. When Harry Met Sally (duh)
2. Edward Scissor Hands (I agree with Pam here)
3. The Shining (cause all work and no play...you know the rest)
4. The Jerk (duh again)
5. The Godfather (can I make this a box set??)

What are yours?

takin' some advice

Wow...Christmas is knocking on the door and I am super excited. Well, really, Christmas is over if you ask Maryanne. Last year I was a little out of my element what with trying to sell the house, and moving, and applying for the College of Education and all. But this year...this year is my year.

Now first, I must tip my hat to Fall by having my annual screening of When Harry Met Sally. Yup...you know it's officially Fall in my house when Meg Ryan has a fake orgasm in the middle of a restaurant. So this screening will most likely take place later this week. Kato, you're welcome to dream yourself home for this one...although I can't imagine you, stemshul, and ugly have spent a more girly night than that night we last watched it. Stemshul, you are welcome to be present for the screening, but I must warn you, this is a very important rite of passage for the calendar year...so no talking or canoodling.

Anyway, once Fall's over, it's time to prepare for the big day. I already bought 150 square feet of wrapping paper at Costco, and I'm very tempted to start buying presents so that I can use it! And I will...oh how I will. But it's not just the present wrapping and unwrapping...it's the decorations, the snow, the lights, the cheer, the food, the parties, the tree, the festivities, and the hot cocoa! Oh so much to look forward to, so little time.

your future's so bright...you gotta wear shades

Devastating enough for you?? Katohater, I think this is a super poker look for you. You know you have to have the shades to hide your soul from the other players.

Today was a pretty good day...we began by shoveling dog waste into a plastic bag and cutting the grass. Next was vacuuming (more dog waste) which is always good fun. Then off to the in-laws to help close the pool. Not that I helped much, but I did get to do the final skimming of the year! When we returned home it was sleepy time for a while before I had to leave for a skating exhibition. The exhibition went well, and now I'm here avoiding homework yet again. Seriously though, I did get most of it done before tonight this week.

Ugh!! My life is boring! I'm bored just writing this...for those of you who dropped off after reading the third sentence...congratulations! I'm sure you are better for it. To those of you who are sadly still reading this...I am very sorry...it's not over yet.

So why do continue stabbing at this blog thing when I have little to write about and even less motivation to sit down and do it?? I'm not sure...a lazy way to keep in touch or be involved? Because everyone else is doing it? It is exciting when you get a good idea and you feel like you must put it out there or you will burst. But really, how often does that happen? I don't know, I guess some part of me thinks that doing this regularly is therapeutic...but not in a mushy gushy, I-hate-my-mother sort of way...in a clear your brain, get out the anger, and move on sort of way.

Really, all I wanted to do was comment on this post...but I didn't think I could put a picture in a comment...so...yeah.

why do the internets have to be on the computer?

Well...I might as well make it official: I am officially NOT doing my homework right now. Not only am I not doing it by reading all the blogs I frequent, checking my email, and watching the photos change on the google desktop, but I am now actively participating in another activity that draws me away from the task at hand. Oh well, I guess sleep is not a luxury I will be enjoying tonight. I know it's my own fault and I keep saying year after year that I will get better...but year after year I continue to procrastinate. Now if I would just spend the 90 minutes or so it takes to do some of this stuff after class, I would be all set and wouldn't be here blogging just to get out of doing my homework. I mean come on, I'm ruining my lengthy-time-between-posts streak here...this has got to be serious.

We saw Little Shop of Horrors as DeVos Place today. It was fun and very entertaining. LSoH was one of my favorite movies growing up. Rick Moranis plays Seymour and Steve Martin plays Orin the Dentist which is very funny. Once the show started it was this warm, familiar feeling and I felt like I could run up on stage to be an understudy for any character at any moment. The second half was markedly slower and unfamiliar to me. The ending of the movie is much different than what we saw at the show today. But it was still fun. After, it was off to Don Pablos for some tasty mexican food. I know it's not the real deal kato, but I feel it's pretty close. And now, here I am, just biding my time...you know it has to be at least midnight before I can start any papers or other homework.
