Today is Black Friday, only at the crew we call it Green Friday. Not because we're greedy money-grubbers, mostly because Black Friday sounds too depressing. It started off with a bang at 5am when Hassah and I waited patiently for our store manager outside the store. There were already many shoppers lined up outside SEARS, and a long line of cars making their way into the Khol's parking lot. Hassah and I agreed that these people must be crazy, but I secretly thought about the day when I could be one of those crazy people. Little did we know that down 28th street a little ways, all hell was breaking loose amongst even crazier people at Walmart. If you need to trample over a 13-year old girl's back to save $5.oo, then you must be really hard up. Hassah cleaned and I replenished the floor and stocked the cashwrap until about 6:30am when we went to get some coffee and make a stop at Express.
The store opened at 7am with very little fanfare as the crew does not generally offer "door-buster" deals. My post for the day was the wrapping table. This job consists mostly of constructing boxes, cutting ribbon, answering the phone, and filling box orders as shouted out by the cashiers. My favorite part of this day?? The free lunch from Blimpies! I had a turkey sub with jalapeno chips and a cookie. Mmmmm...it was delicious! Then I only had 1 hour left before my shift was over and it was back to my post for more folding fun. So despite the excitement elsewhere, things ran relatively smoothly at our store this morning. And now it's 3pm and I feel like I have a whole day off! Awesome! I think if you need me for anything today, you'll be able to find me down on Jump Street...JUMP!! 21 Jump...Street!
