Are you ready?

Man I love football! It's playoff time and that means all the games are important and all the games are good. Even if it's not a great showdown, chances are the game involves a team that I like watching. I've seen many a game casually or because I was marching at halftime (yes...band geek) but I would say I've been a fan of football for about 7 years. Ever since that first Super Bowl I watched in Dave's mom's basement where Neil fell asleep and after he left we talked about getting married, I knew it was a game I could love.

In my marching band years I thought the game was so stupid...I remember saying, "How can anyone get excited about this game? All they do is try to move that funny shaped ball to one end of the field, and when they can't it gets moved to the other end!" I was foolish. Since then I've come to realize that the reason football is so glorious is because it is deceptively simple. Yes, any casual fan can understand that the goal is to move the football all the way down field and into the end zone...but there is just so much more! As I said, I've been watching and asking questions as a fan for 7 years now and I'm still amazed at all the different little rules. Also, simple as it may sound, there are a thousand different things that can happen and when you see a beautiful play that works, it's like a work of art.

Right now I'm getting psyched up for the Seahawks at the Bears and later today is the main event, the Patriots at the Chargers (I would have Tom Brady's babies). So put on some sweats, get a snack or two or three, and get ready to spend the day in front of the old boob tube...that's where I'll be.
