you'll need socks

Because we were either still awake or woke up several times in the night, my wonderful husband wished me a happy birthday 6 or 4 times before I even began my day. I had to stop by the crew for about an hour for a meeting and then it was off to the arctic oval for some lessons. One of my adult students brought me a present and one of my high school students brought me a card...both unsolicited and without any reminder whatsoever. I thought that was sweet. I had to go to the secretary of state to renew my license or be subjected to a $7 late fee. This was, of course, the least fun part of the day. When I got home, I had some lunch, watched some soaps, and cleaned the house. I actually enjoyed cleaning for some reason...I think because it felt kind of like a free day. At my bible study, I recieved a really cute book called Hugs for Teachers, chock full of inspiration. Earlier in the day, whitey called me and asked me to let her know when I was back home for the day so they could "come over". Whatever for, I wondered? She and my mother-in-law brought gifts including a book that I've been wanting since I first saw it in the Ft. Lauderdale airport. It's called Marley and Me...it's about the "worst dog in the world". Can't wait to read it. After the in-laws left I was moping around because even though my super awesome husband had told me happy birthday several times, and even though I know birthday's aren't a big deal to him, I was hoping for some sort of surprise. At the height of my moping I told him as much in hopes that next year's birthday would bring some excitement. He nodded silently and said ok...I knew he understood. Then that sneaky snake casually asked me what time the sun went down...later he came downstairs, turned the tv off and said "come with me...you'll need socks". Huh...that's a new one. We began to drive...where I wasn't really sure at first, and soon had no clue whatsoever. The clever boy had planned on taking me out to the country to look at the stars. It was perfect...he didn't even mind that I was impatient and had little faith earlier. Shows what I know...birthday #25, awesome!

It was ok...I'm sure I still look about 17, which will be great by the time I have to take a new picture.
